For my landmark sculpture, I’m planning to use powder-coated aluminium for the curved flower ribbons because it’s lightweight, flexible in fabrication and rust-resistant. For the central supporting structure, I’m considering galvanized steel to withstand Fraser’s Hill’s humid and rainy climate. The circular seating will have a steel frame with recycled plastic or timber-look slats for comfort, while the kinetic mechanism will use stainless steel joints. However, I’m still unsure about the best material for the 2.5m × 2.5m base, especially since the site is constantly exposed to moisture and rain. I’m considering reinforced concrete with a non-slip surface, but I still need to figure out the foundation and drainage. For my 1:10 physical model, I’m planning to use bamboo sticks, flexible wire and plastic strips to create the curves.
