Lumion AI: What It Includes and How to Add AI Rendering
Lumion has its own AI tools. Here is what they do, plus a quick way to turn a Lumion view into an AI render in about 30 seconds.

Lumion AI is a short search with two questions inside it. What AI does Lumion itself ship? And how do you use AI rendering with a Lumion scene? This page answers both. Lumion does include AI tools. AI Render Studio adds a different route: export a view and get a render in about 30 seconds.
On the first question, Lumion’s own pages list three AI tools. The AI Upscaler arrived in Lumion Pro 2025 for Photo Mode and was improved in Lumion Pro 2026.0, with a 4x option for output up to 16K. Lumion Cloud adds an AI Enhancer, an AI Material Generator and a cloud AI Upscaler. Lumion says the AI tools are included with its plans.
On the second, you can use AI Render Studio as a companion. Export a view from Lumion, or from the SketchUp, Revit or Rhino model it sits on, then upload it and choose a render tool. It suits early concept stages, quick design options, and machines that fall below Lumion’s GPU requirements. It does not replace a Lumion scene. It gives you a fast first picture.
Which Lumion AI feature fits which job? The Pro AI Upscaler helps when you render at a lower resolution and want a larger final image. Lumion’s Cloud AI Enhancer refines an image you already have, and it offers a Time of Day slider plus controls to keep elements such as buildings and vegetation unchanged. The AI Material Generator creates PBR material maps from a reference image for use in Lumion Pro. All three work on something you have already built in Lumion.
AI Render Studio starts earlier. It takes a plain screenshot, so you can use it before a Lumion scene exists. A clay massing view from SketchUp, a Revit camera or a Rhino viewport is enough. If you need a place to start, see the exterior render tool or the SketchUp AI render guide below.
Hardware is the other reason people look for a Lumion AI render route. Lumion’s Pro 2026 minimum is a GPU with a G3DMark of 8,000 or higher and 6 GB of VRAM, and Lumion notes that this minimum suits only simple projects. A browser-based tool has no such requirement, so a laptop is enough to produce concept images. The exterior render tool is a good first stop for building views.
When you need exact control, such as precise materials, planting, animation or a client walk-through, stay in Lumion. Use the AI render for the weeks when the design is still moving.
Use cases
Who it’s for
Lumion AI rendering for early concept stages
Export a simple view from your model and test moods, materials and settings before you build a full Lumion scene.
Quick options for a client meeting
Turn three or four camera views into comparable images the same day, then take the chosen direction into Lumion.
Machines below Lumion’s GPU needs
If your laptop falls under Lumion’s GPU minimum, you can still produce a presentable image from an exported view.
Variations of an existing Lumion still
Upload a Lumion render and try a different time of day, season or material mood as a design variation.
Workflow
Traditional rendering vs AI Render Studio
| Task | Traditional workflow | With AI Render Studio |
|---|---|---|
| First concept view | Build and light a Lumion scene | Export a view from the model, then render it |
| Option comparison | Duplicate and edit each scene | Upload one view per option |
| Low-spec machine | Needs a GPU that meets Lumion’s minimum | Runs in the browser |
| Final hero image | Full control in Lumion | Use the AI render as a reference |
| Animation and walk-through | Built for it in Lumion | Stay in Lumion |
Tips
How to get the best results
Export a clean still
Hide UI, grids and helper objects, and export at a larger size than your screen so edges stay crisp.
Pick the render tool that matches the view
Use the exterior tool for building views and the interior tool for rooms. Matching the tool to the image gives clearer results.
Describe the setting
Say what the building is made of and where it sits. A short prompt about materials, time of day and surroundings helps.
Check against your model
AI can change small details. Compare each result to your Lumion scene or model before it goes in a deck.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does Lumion have AI?
Yes. According to Lumion’s own pages, Lumion Pro 2025 added a built-in AI Upscaler for Photo Mode, and Lumion Pro 2026.0 improved it with 2x and 4x modes, up to 16K output. Lumion Cloud also has an AI Enhancer, an AI Material Generator and an AI Upscaler. Lumion states that results should be reviewed against the original before use.
Can I AI render a Lumion scene with AI Render Studio?
Yes. Export a still from Lumion, or a viewport image from the model underneath, upload it to the render tool that fits the view, and generate a render in about 30 seconds. New accounts get 3 free credits with no credit card. Check the result against your scene before sharing it.
Is this a replacement for Lumion?
No. Lumion gives you a full scene with exact control over models, materials, cameras and animation. AI Render Studio gives you quick images from a screenshot. Many teams will use both: AI for early options, Lumion for the scenes they develop further.
What AI does Lumion Cloud include?
Lumion’s AI tools page lists three: an AI Enhancer with Guided and Expert modes, an AI Material Generator that makes PBR maps from a reference image, and an AI Upscaler. Lumion says they are included with its plans. Check lumion.com for current terms.
How is AI Render Studio different from the Lumion AI Enhancer?
Lumion’s AI Enhancer works on images made in Lumion Cloud. AI Render Studio works on any exported image, including a view from SketchUp, Revit or Rhino. The two can sit side by side in one workflow.
Can I use the renders commercially?
Every paid plan and credit pack includes full commercial rights. Renders made with the free credits are not covered, so use a paid plan or pack for client work. Plans start at $19 a month, and one-time credit packs never expire.
