Which Lumion version do these requirements cover?
The page names Lumion 2026 as the current release and lists Lumion Pro 2026.1. The same page also covers Axogram, Lumion's newer diagramming plugin for SketchUp, Revit and Archicad. Axogram has lower requirements, which are summarised near the end of this post.
Lumion also says the PC must be connected to the internet. Windows 10 has reached end of life, and Lumion recommends moving to Windows 11.
Lumion PC requirements in plain terms
Lumion calls the graphics card the most important part of the PC. In plain terms:
- Minimum: a graphics card scoring 8,000 on the G3DMark benchmark, with 6 GB of video memory. Lumion says this setup is not recommended because it only handles simple projects.
- Recommended: a score of 14,000 and 10 GB of video memory, with 32 GB of system RAM.
- High-end: a score of 22,000 and 16 GB of video memory, with 64 GB of system RAM.
The CPU matters less than the graphics card, but it still sets a floor. Lumion asks for a single-thread CPUMark score of 2,200, 2,600 or 3,000 depending on the tier. If your CPU score looks low, Lumion suggests checking that the chip runs above 3.0 GHz and has at least 4 cores.
Lumion graphics card requirements
Lumion uses the PassMark benchmark, which it also calls G3DMark. They are the same score on different pages, so compare like with like when you look up a card.
Here are the example cards Lumion lists for each tier:
| Tier | Score | Example cards on Lumion's page |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 8,000+ | GTX 1060, Quadro K6000, RX 580 |
| Recommended | 14,000+ | RTX 3060, Quadro RTX 2000 Ada, RX 6700 XT |
| High-end | 22,000+ | RTX 3090, RTX A6000, RX 6800 XT |
VRAM can change what you are able to do, not only how fast it runs. Lumion states that 4K rasterization and 1080p ray tracing each need a GPU with at least 8 GB of VRAM. That is above the 6 GB minimum tier. Lumion also notes that screens above 1920 x 1080 are allowed but may affect performance.
Lumion says to check your own system in one of two ways: run the in-software benchmark in the free trial, or look up your GPU on PassMark and compare the score with the table above.
Can you run Lumion on a laptop?
Lumion does not publish separate laptop requirements. It points to a laptop buying guide and applies the same hardware requirements as for a desktop. That gives you a simple method for a laptop:
- Find the exact graphics card in the configuration you plan to buy.
- Look up its PassMark score and VRAM.
- Compare both with the table above.
Lumion's own hardware advice says to pay close attention to the configuration, especially the graphics card. It also notes that a 3840 x 2160 screen is very demanding, and that a 1920 x 1080 screen is preferable. For a wider look at laptop specs for design software, see our laptop guide for architecture students.
Does Lumion support integrated graphics?
For Lumion Pro, the requirements page does not address integrated graphics. Every example card it gives is a dedicated one, and the benchmark thresholds are set for dedicated cards. Treat integrated graphics as unsupported for Lumion Pro unless Lumion confirms otherwise.
Axogram is different. Its minimum tier accepts a ray tracing capable integrated GPU with a PassMark score of 5,500 or more. Lumion lists an Intel Core Ultra 5 135H or a Ryzen 7640U as examples for that tier, and it says 4K rendering is not possible at the Axogram minimum.
Does Lumion work on a Mac?
Lumion says using Lumion Pro on a Mac is not officially supported, but it is possible. Lumion lists these conditions:
- A relatively new Mac with a fast graphics card
- A Windows 10 license
- At least 100 GB of free drive space for Windows and Lumion
- Apple Boot Camp to install Windows
- The latest graphics driver
Lumion's advice relies on Boot Camp. Rhino's published requirements say Boot Camp is not supported on Apple silicon Macs, so this route may not be open on a recent MacBook. Ask Lumion support before you buy a Mac for Lumion. Lumion also says cloud desktops often fail to meet the hardware requirements, even though Lumion 9.0 and newer work on some virtual PC platforms.
Axogram requirements in brief
Axogram needs 16 GB of RAM at the minimum and a single-thread CPUMark of 2,500. The recommended tier asks for a ray tracing capable dedicated GPU scoring 10,000 or more, and the high-end tier asks for 14,000 and 32 GB of RAM. It needs about 500 MB of free disk space. Lumion's support site separately lists Windows 11, 32 GB of RAM and 6 GB of VRAM as its recommended PC for Axogram.

An AI alternative if your PC falls short
If your computer does not reach the Lumion graphics card requirements, you can still produce a render. AI Render Studio runs in the browser, so no GPU is needed on your side. FAQ
What are the minimum Lumion system requirements?
For Lumion Pro 2026, Lumion lists 64-bit Windows, 16 GB of RAM, a graphics card with a G3DMark score of 8,000 or more and 6 GB of VRAM, and a single-thread CPUMark of 2,200 or more. Lumion says this configuration is not recommended because it can only handle simple projects.
What graphics card does Lumion need?
Lumion asks for a G3DMark (PassMark) score of 8,000 at the minimum, 14,000 recommended and 22,000 for high-end work. VRAM targets are 6 GB, 10 GB and 16 GB. Lumion says 4K rasterization and 1080p ray tracing each need at least 8 GB of VRAM.
Can Lumion run on a laptop?
Yes, if the laptop meets the same requirements as a desktop. Lumion does not publish separate laptop requirements, so check the graphics card score and VRAM in the exact configuration you plan to buy, because the same GPU name can come with different memory.
Does Lumion work on a Mac?
Not officially. Lumion says running Lumion Pro on a Mac is possible but not supported, and it lists a relatively new Mac with a fast graphics card, a Windows 10 license, 100 GB of free space and Apple Boot Camp. Check with Lumion before relying on this on a recent Mac.
Does Lumion support integrated graphics?
The Lumion Pro requirements do not mention integrated graphics, and every example GPU on the page is a dedicated card. Only Axogram, the Lumion diagramming plugin, lists a ray tracing capable integrated GPU in its minimum tier.
