Revit System Requirements for Revit 2027
AI Render Studio · October 25, 2026
Revit 2027 needs 64-bit Windows 11, at least 16 GB of RAM, a DirectX 11 graphics card with Shader Model 5, 30 GB of disk space and .NET 10. Autodesk publishes three tiers (Minimum, Value and Performance), and larger models need more memory. These are the Revit system requirements for the current release, Revit 2027.

Revit minimum requirements
Autodesk's system requirements for Revit 2027 products article is the full reference. The entry-level setup is enough for learning Revit and for modest models. It is not a comfortable setup for large coordination models.
- Operating system: 64-bit Windows 11. Windows 10 is not listed for Revit 2027.
- CPU: an Intel or AMD processor with a base clock of 2 GHz or higher. Autodesk recommends the highest single-core base clock you can get.
- Memory: 16 GB of RAM.
- Graphics: a DirectX 11 card with Shader Model 5 and 24-bit colour support. Autodesk recommends at least 4 GB of video memory.
- Disk: 30 GB for installation, plus about 100 GB of free space for temporary files.
Recommended Revit hardware requirements
Autodesk sizes its tiers by model size on disk. The 16 GB Minimum tier is usually enough for a single model up to about 300 MB, the 32 GB Value tier for about 600 MB, and the 64 GB Performance tier for about 1 GB. Video memory rises from 4 GB to 6 GB and 8 GB, and the minimum display from 1280 x 1024 to 1920 x 1200. For the accelerated graphics option, Autodesk recommends 8 GB or more of video memory and OpenGL 4.5. Linked models, large families, worksharing and many views all add load, so budget more RAM as projects grow.
Autodesk also publishes a guide to hardware requirements for large and complex projects in Revit. Use it if your models are heavy.
For a practical spec target:
- 32 GB of RAM if you work on multi-discipline or linked models.
- A fast single-core CPU rather than a very high core count.
- A graphics card with 6–8 GB of video memory.
- A solid-state drive with plenty of free space for temporary files.
Autodesk keeps a certified graphics hardware list for Revit. Check it before you choose a graphics card or driver.
How to check your own computer
You can compare your machine with the table in a few minutes.
- Open Settings, then System, then About. This shows your processor, installed RAM and Windows version.
- Open Task Manager, go to the Performance tab and select your GPU. It shows the graphics card name and its dedicated video memory.
- Open File Explorer, select your system drive and check the free space against the 30 GB install figure and the 100 GB temporary-file recommendation.
- If your machine is close to the Minimum tier, try the free trial described in Revit pricing on a real project before you commit.
Laptops often have integrated graphics that share system memory, so confirm the dedicated video memory figure rather than the total.
What changed in Revit 2027
Two changes matter when you plan an upgrade.
- Windows 11 only. Revit 2026 listed Windows 10 version 1809 or later as well as Windows 11. Revit 2027 lists Windows 11.
- .NET 10. Add-ins built for earlier releases on older .NET versions need to be rebuilt for .NET 10 before they will load. Ask your add-in vendors before you move a whole office.
Autodesk also lists Desktop Connector version 16.x or later for collaboration. Version 15.8 or earlier is not supported with Revit 2027.
Revit on a Mac
Revit has no native Mac version. For Apple computers, Autodesk lists Parallels Desktop for Mac running a Windows 11 virtual machine. Autodesk's recommended Mac setup is any Apple silicon Mac (or a quad-core Intel Core i7 Mac) on macOS 13.7 or newer with 32 GB of memory, giving the Windows virtual machine 16 GB of RAM and at least 4 GB of video memory. Accelerated graphics is not supported under Parallels, so heavy 3D views run slower than on a Windows PC with the same specs.
Revit LT system requirements
Revit LT 2027 matches the Revit Minimum tier: 64-bit Windows 11, 16 GB of RAM, a DirectX 11 card with 4 GB of video memory recommended (6 GB or more for accelerated graphics), 30 GB for installation and 100 GB free for temporary files. Revit LT does not support network licensing, deployments, Revit Server or Citrix environments. See Revit pricing for what else differs between the two products.
Internet and browser requirements
Revit needs an internet connection for licence registration and to download prerequisite components, and Autodesk lists Chrome, Edge or Firefox as supported browsers. For cloud worksharing, Autodesk recommends a symmetrical connection of 5 Mbps per machine at the Minimum tier, 10 Mbps at Value and 25 Mbps at Performance.
