SketchUp pricing by plan
SketchUp Go
Go is the entry plan and runs on the web and iPad only. It includes premade furnishings and materials, unlimited Trimble Connect cloud storage, mobile viewing, and real-time sharing and commenting. It does not include the desktop app, LayOut, the Extension Warehouse or V-Ray. The 3D Warehouse allows 250 downloads a day and 2,500 a month.
SketchUp Pro
Pro is the plan most professionals buy. It adds the desktop app, LayOut for 2D documentation, PreDesign climate insights, access to 1,000+ extensions through the Extension Warehouse, and better IFC and DWG compatibility. It also includes Dynamic Components. The 3D Warehouse limit rises to 1,500 downloads a day and 15,000 a month.
SketchUp Studio
Studio is Windows-only and builds on Pro. It adds Revit import, modelling on point clouds with 2D documentation, V-Ray, Scan Essentials and the Site Contractor Extension, along with rendered animations and 360-degree panoramas. It suits teams that need visualisation and BIM workflows in one licence.
Pro add-on plans
The same page lists three Pro-based plans for specialist work, all billed annually per user: Pro Scan at $41.58 a month (Windows only), Pro Civil Contractor at $41.58 a month, and Pro Advanced Workflows at $49.92 a month (Windows only). Each includes everything in Pro plus scanning or site tools.
SketchUp cost for students, educators and schools
The plans page lists these education options, billed annually:
- Students: $55 per user. It covers modelling on any device, photorealistic visuals, extensions, Sefaira energy modelling and Revit import.
- Educators: $55 per user, with web, iPad and Desktop access and unlimited cloud storage.
- Universities: tiered per-seat pricing, from $50 per seat for 10 to 50 seats down to $30 per seat for network lab licensing. Larger deployments are quoted by sales.
- K-12 (SketchUp for Schools): free with a Google Workspace for Education or Microsoft Education account.
Check the official page for the eligibility rules that apply to your institution.
Can you still buy a perpetual SketchUp licence?
No. SketchUp's Classic License FAQ says SketchUp stopped selling Classic (perpetual) licences on 4 November 2020. It no longer offers new licences or renewals, including Maintenance and Support plans, so upgrades under that plan are no longer available. Classic licences for SketchUp 2017 and older can no longer authorise the software.
SketchUp free trial and SketchUp Free
The SketchUp download page offers a free 7-day Pro trial with no credit card required. If you do not buy, you can keep using SketchUp as a free user.
SketchUp Free is a separate, browser-based modeller. Its help page says it is not for commercial use and that support is not available to Free users. For a fuller answer, read is SketchUp free.
Tax, regional pricing and refunds
The listed prices are in USD and exclude tax and VAT. The page also says payment options may vary by your location or region, and subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price. Annual plans can be refunded if you ask within 14 days of purchase or renewal. We could not confirm separate regional price lists, so check the plans page for your country at checkout.
What SketchUp subscription cost does not cover
The plan fee covers the SketchUp software and its bundled tools. A few costs sit outside it:
- Rendering: Go and Pro do not include V-Ray. Only Studio bundles it, so Pro users who want photoreal images usually add a renderer or another workflow.
- Hardware: Studio runs on Windows only, so Mac users cannot use it. Check the official system requirements before you buy.
- Extensions: Extension Warehouse access starts at Pro. Go does not include it.
- Offline use: subscriptions can be used offline for up to 28 days before SketchUp asks you to sign in again.
For a team, add up seats, one subscription per user, and ask Trimble sales about volume pricing. The plans page says large teams can get custom quotes, SSO and admin tools.
Which SketchUp plan should you choose?
- Go if you only need light 3D modelling on the web or an iPad.
- Pro if you need the desktop app, LayOut drawings and extensions.
- Studio if you also need V-Ray, Revit import or point cloud tools on Windows.
- Education if you are an eligible student or educator.
